VOA Foundation Scholarship Application

VOA CHARITY is pleased to announce that we are accepting applications for scholarship awards for the 2023/2024 academic year. We are soliciting candidates to compete for a scholarship that will be awarded this year. The scholarship criteria are listed below

Our Scholarship application includes the requirement that each applicant must submit a one (1) page “Personal Essay” on WHY I SHOULD BE GIVEN THIS UNIVERSITY SCHOLARSHIP. (containing: a biographical sketch, educational aspirations, and career goals)

Essays must be typed, double-spaced, with all margins at least one (1) inch and uploaded as a PDF document via the application form. The absence of essay will merit ZERO (0) points for that category.

Completed applications must be submitted no later than
June 30, 2023

The winners will be announced on our website and contacted individually by August 2023. Scholars will need to maintain their merits and qualifications yearly to maintain their scholarship.

Background Information

Values Of Affordable Education Foundation and charity is a non-profit organization registered in the United States of America (501 c) and Federal Republic of Nigeria. Our vision is to empower the society via STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) programs for secondary school students locally and internationally. Especially those who have socioeconomic difficulty and are under- represented in STEM.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must be students of accredited high schools who have graduated or will graduate in the school year 2022/2023. Additionally, applying students must have A’s in core science subjects including Mathematics and English

Application Procedure

Completed applications must be completed by each applicant entirely and provide all supporting documents listed on the application form by the deadline date.

Notification Procedure

Finalists will receive individual notices of final results via the contact information provided on the application form.

Selection Procedure

We anticipate many more applications for VOA Foundation Scholarship than we can accept, so applications will be competitive. Applications received will be screened and verified as deemed appropriate. Our Scholarship Committee will shortlist using a scale of one hundred (100) points considering academic achievement, extracurricular activities, community activities, and personal essay to competitively rank applicants and interviewed.

Award Payment Certification

Scholarship awardees may enroll in the private university in Nigeria of their choice out of these options; Kings University, Covenant University, Redeemers University, Babcock University. Upon completion of enrollment, the school registrar must send verification of enrollment and curriculum to VOA Charity (upload online). After the required verifications are completed and finalized, individual award payments for the chosen scholars will be made directly to the private university.

Award Payment Limitation

All scholarships awarded will expire 4 years after issue and are not transferable. Merits and qualifications need to be maintained yearly for the scholarship to continue for up to 4 years to graduation
